What was the highlight of Catalonia Punta Cana Hotel

Despite some reservations I'm regularly returning back to this hotel

+ beautiful white sandy beaches around + amazing staff (don't forget to tip them :-) + good drinks (not watered down - tested personally by my device - ask for a pure shot, if you want a proof ...:-) + beautiful palm gardens with animals + sorrento pizza by the pool, some grilled food, creamy soups in the main buffet restaurants, pancakes on the beach + strongly appreciate that local sellers, who are present in front of the main restaurant some days, are no longer pushy as they used to be in the past - big plus, I'm no longer afraid of going around ...:-))

- algae in the sea has been reduced by the installed nets in the sea plus regularly removed from the beach, however, shallow waters do not allow for swimming - just a remark, not criticism - some food could be improved - I know it's a big resort but some other hotels can prepare better food even at such a big resorts so it's doable - maybe caused by lack of staff? Buffet restaurants better than A la carte restaurants, how this is possible? - entertainment team had lost some of their best members and the level of fun used to be better in the past

Nice but not great

The beach is great. The dancers and people from Toscana and Terrace restaurants are awesome. Also the food at all of the specialties restaurants is good.

The bathroom is really old… The curtain at the shower is terrible! It’s time to invest a bit and make some improvements. At the buffet the food is not so good. Even the breakfast could be a bit better.. Maybe less options and higher quality could work. About the staff, at Rodeo and also at breakfast we didn’t have a good impression the whole week.

Most of it was good but the main buffet waitresses on the Right side no bueno!

The room cleaning lady was superb! The entertainment crew and also the kids club they were superb. The different restaurant staff were very professional, the tall Pizza guy by the pool and the buffet by the beach Excellent crew very attentive and professional.

The main buffet waitresses staff working on the right side once entering the venue they need extensive training. The breakfast crew and dinner crew ladies. They were not pleasant, they weren't cordial, and they seem not to like working there. This should be unacceptable by your standards. The first few days My family and I ate at the main buffet but after going to the buffet by the beach and the other restaurants which we love and it was a much different atmosphere and all the staff were very professional and pleasant, especially the servers.

I really enjoyed my stay and will be sending my children there too for vacation.

Nice breakfast and wonderful location. Very helpful staff bell boys superb and receptionist great service.

Thank you to all the staff at Catalonia Punta Cana for a wonderful holiday in paradise !!

This was my first holiday in Punta Cana, I was given a beautiful ground floor room, because of a bad leg, near the beach and the pool, thanks to Edwin and Ruth. They were extremely helpful and kind. As were all the staff in the hotel. The gardens were magnificent, with beds next to a magical lagoon, if you wanted to be in a quiet space. The beach and pool were great, good food with friendly waiters, what more could you want? I needed a break from a big city, to relax and feel I was being taken care of and I definitely got what I wanted and more !!

Just one tiny thing that disturbed me was the Club Lookea, they were much too loud, childish and not entertaining at all, but that's just my opinion.

LOVED the restaurants, entertainment was great these guys and girls have so much energy they are amazing very sweet.

Only thing I didn’t like is that there is only one pool and for the disco the music is much more for teens than adults I believe maybe more typical music from DR. Everything else was great

We had a good time, the resort is nice but there are some issues that need to be addressed.

Overall we had a very good time at this hotel. The resort offers a lot for the price. We liked the privilege room that we stayed in, it was just like in the pictures, beautiful and modern. We loved the beach, it was so beautiful with soft white sand, surrounded by many palm trees and turquoise blue clear water. The beds on the beach were great, we really enjoyed relaxing in the it while watching the beautiful beach and ocean. The resort itself is very big and the surroundings are full of palm trees, flowers and lots of nature that are all really well maintained. We really liked the food, it was tasty and of good quality with so many options to choose from. My wife has a very sensitive stomach so she was worried about food poisoning but it hasn’t been an issue. We very much enjoyed the evening entertainment, the dancers and singers were very talented Also we felt very safe at this resort, it was gated and they had security on the beach. But there were also some things that we didn’t like to the point that we might choose another resort when back to Punta Cana. One thing that really bothered us was the fact that there was a sewage smell that was coming through the ventilation system of the AC, couple of times per day. During the day, we will open the windows and it will pass in 5-10 minutes, although this is a waste of electricity and it is still uncomfortable. The bigger problem it was that the sewage smell was happening in the night as well and it was waking us up in a lot of discomfort. One other thing that bothered us was that the water pressure in the shower was very low and it was cold. It was very uncomfortable to shower with cold water after the beach day with a ridiculous water pressure. We noticed that if we shower at different times rather than the evening this wasn’t such a big issue, but like most people we wanted to shower when it was getting dark outside so that we get get ready for our dinner reservations.

One thing that really bothered us was the fact that there was a sewage smell that was coming through the ventilation system of the AC, couple of times per day. The bigger problem it was that the sewage smell was happening in the night as well and it was waking us up in a lot of discomfort. It was very uncomfortable to shower with cold water after the beach day with a ridiculous water pressure. Other inconvenience was that when we asked for towels, water and other necessities they were slow at bringing it. One day was particularly bad, the cleaning lady took our wet towels and didn’t bring others back. We gave her a very good tip and asked her couple hours later to bring us towels and she said she would but she didn’t. Hours later we called the hotel to bring it, they said they would but after almost 3 hours they still didn’t. We called again and after 40 minutes they finally brought it but we had to dry without towels so that we can get ready for the restaurant reservation. On top of this, the hands towel they gave was stained badly. However not every day was like this, there were times when they brought what we asked for in 15-30 minutes. One other thing that was uncomfortable was that the AC was blowing with force cold air straight on the bed direction and it was also loud. Had to sleep with earplugs and with the covers on head and even like this it was uncomfortable. We tried to set the AC for warmer temperature but it didn’t seam to care, when it was on it was blowing cold and it wouldn’t stop when reaching the set temperature. Another thing that we didn’t like was it was not that clean. Many times at the buffet and also at the other restaurants the utensils were greasy and dirty. Room cleaning was barely ok.
